FAQ

  • Why do I sometimes have to wait to eat the peaches when I purchase them?
    • We bring the freshest peaches you can get. By that I mean they come o@ the tree and are available to you within a 2-4 days. That is very fast! When the peaches are harvested they need to be “firm” for them to remain undamaged from shipping. They are not harvested green though which ensures they will ripen perfectly within just a few days at room temperature.
  • What is the best way to store my peaches?
    • Keeping your peaches fresh is easy because the peaches are available to you so quickly after harvest. They should be left at room temperature for the best flavor and results.
    • If you purchase larger quantities you can put half of them into a cold place like the refrigerator or a cool place like a concrete floor in your basement. Single layer always works best for longer preservation. As you eat the room temperature peaches you simply replace them with cold peaches to allow the cold ones to come to room temperature within a day or two.
  • Do I only want to buy “cling free” or “free stone” peaches to get good peaches?
    • Cling free or free stone peaches are terms used to describe the peaches where the flesh is no longer attached to the pit. When you cut them open you can easily remove the pit. These peaches are always on the tree longer and aren’t available until about mid-August.
    • Clingstone peaches describe the peaches where the flesh is still attached to the pit. These are terrific for eating but less desirable for canning. These are the earlier peaches in the season that still taste amazing.
  • Which peaches are best for canning?
    • The best peaches for canning are the cling free varieties and you want them ripe although not too soft.

–Chrissy Oesterle

“We have been buying peaches from Sandi for the past 3 or 4 years and they have always been delicious. We lay them out on newspaper to where they are not touching, and have had them stay good for 4 or 5 days. I make about 6 batches of jam and put almost 30 pints in freezer, plus make pies. They’re terrific.”

–Patty Wollam

“The produce was all exceptional. I did not have a single peach that had to be discarded out of 4 cases I
purchased. Green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, plums – everything was perfect.”

–Valerie Kulhavy

“Sandra, your peaches are so absolutely delicious!! so sweet and juicy, nothing like what you buy in the store. I truly appreciate you replacing my first box that was too ripe it spoiled within a couple days. that was so nice of you and great to have someone who stands behind their product. Thanks!”
